what’s included in this estimate
style, layout and functionality
Good budgeting is about more than numbers — it’s about clarity. Be honest about how you use your living room:
Is it for entertaining? Relaxing with family? Watching movies?
Do you need extra storage or convertible seating?
Are you investing for long-term use, or staging for sale?
Define your priorities before shopping. And if you’re not sure where to start — we can help.
how to interpret your estimate
Your dining room budget should reflect how you entertain and live. A total of:
$5,000–$8,000 typically covers essential furnishings and lighting for a modest setup—think a solid dining table, basic chairs, and a single overhead fixture
$12,000–$20,000 allows for elevated selections like upholstered seating, sculptural lighting, and a sideboard or rug to complete the room
$25,000+ supports custom furniture, designer lighting, curated artwork, and layered styling details that elevate both form and function
These estimates reflect furnishing costs only and do not include contractor labor, built-in millwork, or construction.
dining table
The foundation of your dining space—this is where guests gather and meals are shared. Size, material, and craftsmanship all influence the price.
dining chairs
A full set of chairs selected for comfort, durability, and style. Options range from simple wood frames to fully upholstered designer pieces.
pendant light / chandelier
The focal point above the table. This overhead light sets the mood and defines the dining area, whether it’s sculptural or subtle.
side board / credenza
A stylish storage piece for serving dishes, linens, and barware. It also offers a surface for styling and added visual balance.
artwork or mirrors
Adds personality and visual interest to the room. A mirror can enhance natural light; art can anchor the space with tone or color.
rug
Grounds the room and softens acoustics. Sizing matters here—an 8x10 allows all chairs to sit comfortably on the rug when pulled out.
